Very proud of my mother who today was awarded her

Very proud of my mother who today was awarded her MBE at Windsor Castle for Services to Communities in Southwest Uganda. For 20 years she has run her charity, Edirisa UK, working on projects including a health clinic, a special needs school, crafts with local women, bee keeping, nursery schools and more. It’s amazing to see her tenacity and commitment. It was an honour to be there today with my sisters to see my mother getting her award and chatting to HRH Prince William. A really lovely morning at Windsor Castle.

I was at @mertoncollegeoxford on Saturday for an event marking the 100th anniversary of the disappearance of Everest climbers Mallory and Irvine, and particularly celebrating Sandy Irvine, who was a student at Merton when he died. It was a wonderful event and I loved talking about Everest and the science again. And Merton College was lushly green and beautiful even as the sodden cherry blossom dripped and the bluebells quivered in the cold April wind. Thank you for inviting me!
